The Access Together
Project is a joint project between the City of Germantown and Germantown High School. The programs are designed to promote community involvement over cable television. The facilities and staff are provided by Germantown High School while the talent and programming are provided by the community. The concept originated when community involvement over the access channel was in a declining state due to the public's lack of familiarity with television production. The local high school television station was at the same time rapidly expanding and in need of equipment. The City Board of Mayor and Aldermen saw the chance to revive the public access line-up while simultaneously rewarding the high school with new equipment in return for their help in providing labor and facilities to tape the access programs. The Access Together Project format includes twelve regularly scheduled shows and several special features. The following programs are among those taped each month:
